about

Ranging from dissonant noise to truly beautiful melodic passages, 'Elephant Heart Plumb' is a complex and multifarious collection of four long rhythmic pieces by Brad Laner (Medicine, Electric Company, Debt of Nature among many others). Each piece could be a record of its own: varied yet balanced, full of development and sudden twists, stumbling beats and shifting melodies, interspersed with noisier fragments and tones.

Handling an overwhelming amount of sonic material, 'Elephant Heart Plumb' is a paragon in arrangement and composition and manages to create unity out of seemingly separated sources. Each passage is meticulously interwoven with the following sequence, yet the record itself never gets stale or mechanical. It seems more often to evolve randomly while playing one great idea after another. Alternation beyond repetitive patterns and vapid playfulness is a key element of this album.

Brad Laner (*1966) is known as one of the key members of the noise rock band Medicine (US) and has released numerous solo and collaborative recordings under names like Electric Company, Personal Electronics, Debt of Nature and The Internal Tulips. Active since the early 1980s his music spans from electronics to rock, noise to experimental compositions.
