Founded 2010 in Berlin (Germany) Hiroshima Bird Market is a rather obscure noise / free-form improvisation group experimenting with a large variety of instruments, sounds and sonic objects. Although HBM recorded a great amount of material between the years 2010 and 2013 and released a number of cassettes and CDrs on labels like Gold Soundz, Glowing Fingers, Silberbiber and On Paintings, 'Varia Obscura' is the first release of the trio in five years.

A compilation of released and unreleased material at the same time 'Varia Obscura' spans three years of recording and nearly all releases of HBM. It is conceived and understood as an introduction to HBM's noisy habitat of droning guitars, mumbling drums and screeching feedbacks, which brings bands to mind like The Dead C, Skullflower and The Shadow Ring.

All tracks were recorded live to tape during various sessions between early March of 2010 and late 2013.
