about

'Channel 19' is an elaborate experimental piece shifting between noise, drone and minimal electronics. Recorded at Skálar Centre For Sound Art And Experimental Music in Seyðisfjörður, East Iceland in 2016, Jeff Kolar creates an engaging study of slowly evolving noise and tone manipulations, which more than once develop into deep sonic textures. Because the array of sound is limited to a core, 'Channel 19' is an example for the active part, that the listener and his attention to detail takes in realizing a sound study like this.

Jeff Kolar (b. Chicago, Illinois, US) is an independent sound artist, radio producer, and curator working in Chicago, United States. He is the Founder and Artistic Director of Radius, an experimental radio broadcast platform established in 2009. His solo and collaborative projects, installations, and public performances often investigate the mundane sonic nuances of everyday electronic devices.
